Everyone – 20th – 25th January 2020

December 1, 2019 By Sandra

Mary, a mother of two, is doing the ironing one Saturday morning when she feels something on her shoulder. It’s the very beginning of a series of events that will change things for ever. For everyone.

A re-imagining of Everyman, one of the oldest dramas in English, Jo Clifford’s bold and haunting play tells a deeply emotional and warmly funny story of a voyage into the heart of living- and of what it means to lose the people we love.

It was first performed at the Royal Lyceum, Edinburgh, in 2010, and was revived in a new production by Chris Goode and Company at Battersea Arts Centre in 2016.

The Barony Players will be performing the amateur premiere of this thought provoking and challenging play.

The Guardian review:

“processes the trauma of death most profoundly”

“tender, private, vulnerable, self-deprecating humour and a rhetorical elegance”

“the play is both extraordinary and everyday”

The Scotsman review:

“a beautiful, strange and thought-provoking meditation on sudden death”

Christmas with Steptoe and Son – 11th November 2019

August 14, 2019 By Sandra

The Barony Theatre is delighted to be hosting Hambledon Productions as part of their UK Christmas Tour of Ray Galton and Alan Simpson’s
“Christmas with Steptoe and Son”.

Adapted by John Hewer

Christmas simply wouldn’t be Christmas without a visit to 23 Oil Drum Lane to catch up with the nation’s favourite rag-and-bone-men and indulge in some classic, festive misadventures!
Albert and Harold – united by blood, divided over everything else – seem doomed to spend Christmas in each other’s company. But Harold has his flights of fancy… including a flight, he fancies abroad or to throw the biggest Christmas party London’s ever had to offer! His “dzirty old man” Albert, of course, has other ideas… Who wouldn’t want to spend Christmas as Mrs Boxwood’s B&B in Bognor Regis anyway??
These much-loved episodes of classic comedy from Ray Galton and Alan Simpson have been freshly adapted for the stage and are presented by Hambledon Productions – the company behind the recent sell-out successes’ “Just Like That! The Tommy Cooper Show” and “Steptoe and Son”.

Tickets are £12 and are now available to book on our Online Box Office or by phone on 07541 346639.

We would advise you book early – we only have 122 seats available for this one-off performance and they are selling fast.
