Brassed Off

March 28, 2026 By Barony Webmaster

✍🏼 by Paul Allen and Mark Herman
📅 Mon 4th to Sat 9th May
🕢 7:30pm

Grimley Colliery is set to close as the accountants say there’s more money in it shut than open, even after redundancy payments. It means 1200 job losses, a dying town and the loss of its brass band. But under the leadership of Danny, coughing with coal-dusted lungs, the band is somehow transformed into British champions with local lass Gloria whipping up the money needed to get them to the Albert Hall.

Front of House gets a makeover!

November 21, 2025 By Barony Webmaster

There have been lots of improvements happening over the summer months to improve the front of house for everyone.

The entrance, lounge and bar areas have all been freshly painted, and we have created a new ‘Box Office’, with new desk and lighting to ensure you know where to buy or pick up your tickets and have them validated too.

The lounge and bar areas have had new built-in seating, tables and chairs to maximise the seating available and to make it more comfortable for customers to relax and enjoy a pre-show and interval drink or two.  In addition, we have installed new gallery lighting with the fabulous framed photos of shows gone by – a real trip down memory lane and what a wonderful archive of the work of the Players over the last 70+ years!

We have installed a new, larger bar upstairs to increase the speed of serving and new undercounter fridges which will ensure all drinks are chilled to perfection.  And of course, we will be taking interval orders to ensure you can all enjoy your drinks with plenty of time for a chat without queuing.

The kitchen has had a complete overhaul with new units, worktop, oven and instantaneous hot water tap which is a great improvement for serving teas and coffees during shows and for ensuring any functions can be well catered for.  We may even start a regular café slot for the community on a Saturday each month – watch this space!!

We hope you love the improvements we have made so far to enhance your visit and make it as enjoyable and special as a trip to any professional theatre.  All while keeping the roots of the community theatre squarely at the heart of what we do.

The Railway Children

November 21, 2025 By Barony Webmaster

This winter, the Barony Theatre will proudly present The Railway Children — but not quite as you remember it…

In this unique and touching adaptation, the beloved story is told from a fresh perspective: the children are played by adults, looking back and reliving the unforgettable time when they were the Railway Children.

Through memory, nostalgia, and a touch of magic, join us as we revisit a tale of adventure, resilience, and love — where growing up doesn’t mean forgetting the past, but cherishing it all the more.

Family-friendly, beautifully staged, and full of heart — don’t miss this new take on a timeless classic!
