COVID-19 Update

April 23, 2020 By Sandra

Theatre closure

As the COVID-19 outbreak continues to spread throughout the communities where we live and work, in order to continue to help protect the health and safety of our members, volunteers and audiences we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close The Barony Theatre and stop all rehearsals, our Youth Theatre, the Barony Film Society and any other external bookings for the foreseeable future.

We were very much looking forward to bringing you the hilarious stage production of Whisky Galore in May, but in line with theatres across the country, we have now made the decision to postpone this production until May 2021.

We will continue to monitor the guidance from the Scottish Government and will re-open as soon as it is safe to do so.

If you have any questions then please contact us on info@thebaronyplayers.co.uk

Everyone – 20th – 25th January 2020

December 1, 2019 By Sandra

Mary, a mother of two, is doing the ironing one Saturday morning when she feels something on her shoulder. It’s the very beginning of a series of events that will change things for ever. For everyone.

A re-imagining of Everyman, one of the oldest dramas in English, Jo Clifford’s bold and haunting play tells a deeply emotional and warmly funny story of a voyage into the heart of living- and of what it means to lose the people we love.

It was first performed at the Royal Lyceum, Edinburgh, in 2010, and was revived in a new production by Chris Goode and Company at Battersea Arts Centre in 2016.

The Barony Players will be performing the amateur premiere of this thought provoking and challenging play.

The Guardian review:

“processes the trauma of death most profoundly”

“tender, private, vulnerable, self-deprecating humour and a rhetorical elegance”

“the play is both extraordinary and everyday”

The Scotsman review:

“a beautiful, strange and thought-provoking meditation on sudden death”

CAST
