84 Charing Cross Road
In 1949 a struggling American writer, hoping to indulge her love of beautiful books, started a correspondence with a firm of British antiquarian booksellers that was to last 20 years.
The warm, compassionate and very human exchange of letters was published as a book - 84 Charing Cross Road - and was subsequently adapted for the stage by James Roose-Evans.
