October

6th - Mrs Henderson Presents (UK) - The naughty and musical tale of Mrs
Henderson who brought nude review to London's West End at a theatre even
World War II couldn't close. Cert.12A

20th - The Constant Gardener (UK/Ger) - A dramatic thriller about a man
who finds himself up against shady men-in-suits as he investigates his
wife's murder in a remote area of Kenya. Cert.15

November

3rd - Goodnight and Good Luck (US) - George Clooney's re-creation of the
televised battle between journalist Ed Murrow and Senator Joseph
McCarthy. A clever, quiet film and a great pleasure to watch. Cert.PG

17th - Rebecca (US) - New print of the film for which director Alfred
Hitchcock won his only Oscar. This Gothic melodrama features as
immaculate a cast as it's possible to assemble. Cert.PG

December

8th - Shooting Dogs (UK/Ger) - Based on a true story which follows an
exhausted Catholic priest and an idealistic teacher as they get caught up
in the genocide which took place in Rwanda twelve years ago. Directed by
Bathgate's own Michael Canton-Jones. Cert.15

15th - March of the Penguins (France) AND The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
(UK) - Christmas double bill featuring the award-winning documentary on
the annual journey of Emperor Penguins followed by some cracking good
entertainment from Wallace and Gromit who have to save the day when a hare
brainwashing experiment goes wrong! Both Cert.U.

2007

January

5th - Pirates of the Caribbean 2 (US) - Captain Jack Sparrow returns in
Dead Man's Chest, the first of two sequels to The Curse of the Black
Pearl. So action packed it's exhausting! Cert.12A

19th - Brokeback Mountain (US) - A truly epic love story based on a short
story by Canadian writer Annie Proulx. Camaraderie between two cowboys,
working together on a sheep herding job in Arkansas, develops into
something stronger and more intimate. Cert. 15

February

2nd - Pride and Prejudice (UK/France) - Social mobility is the goal for
Miss Bennet in this new adaptation of Jane Austen's classic novel. The
acting is flawless throughout with a host of supporting players including
Dame Judi Dench, Brenda Blethyn and Donald Sutherland. Cert. U

16th - Walk the Line (US) - A chronicle of country music legend Johnny
Cash's life, from his early days on an Arkansas cotton farm to his romance
and marriage to June Carter. Cert. 12A

March

2nd - Memoirs of a Geisha (US) - A sumptuous and absorbing portrayal of a
lost world - the world of the Japanese geisha. A fine cast in an equally
fine film which is a joy to watch. Cert. 12A

16th - Capote (Canada/US) - Philip Seymour Hoffman gives an exceptional
performance as American writer Truman Capote. It covers the period of
time Capote was researching the slaying of a Kansas family when he
developed a close relationship with one of the convicted murderers. Cert.
15

30th - Thank You For Smoking (US) - Satirical comedy which follows the
machinations of Big Tobacco's chief spokesperson as he spins on behalf of
cigarettes while trying to remain a role model for his son. Cert. 15
